Moon-Venus-Jupiter Alignment | Noctography
How many of you were able to go out and see the awesome spectacular of the Moon, Venus and Jupiter lining up?
Those nights were very cold for me, and I only managed to get a couple shots (will post later), but here is one I got of just the moon.

Georgetown Randoms | My Life
Just some random pictures I snapped while out and about that day.
**Please note all the pics I post on my blog have been compressed (sometimes twice)....So the quality is not nearly as nice as the originals.**
Just me | My Life
I am usually the one with the camera when I go out, so there are rarely any pictures of me outside of pics I take of myself. So while out in Georgetown, I handed off my camera to my friend and he took a couple of me. He didn't do too bad of a job being one of his first experiences with a DSLR! :)
Exorcist Stairs |
I have lived in this area for over 2 years yet I still like to go out and act like a tourist from time to time. I was recently in Georgetown with a friend of mine and we decided to check out the stairs that was used in the movie, The Exorcist. I really enjoyed walking down there and seeing everything, people watching and walking around with my camera. Something I plan on doing a lot more of.
**Yes, that is me at the bottom..:) What can I say? I am a dork.

Playing with Textures | Flowers
Finals for this semester are finally over! *deep breath* I can finally sit down and relax for a couple days. So I wanted to play with the rose pictures I took the other day. I can barely keep my eyes open, but I finished this one. I used a couple Florabella actions as well as a texture from her texture set. Enjoy!

My Life Part II | My Family
You made your entrance into this world fast but calm. So sweet and cuddly the day you were born, and you are the same way now almost 2 years later. Your hugs and kisses make my heart melt and I could kiss your dimples all day long. My heart grew even bigger the day you were born and proved to me the love I could have when I thought I was full. I can honestly say, "My cup runneth over."
My Life Part I | My Family
I never knew I was capable to love so much until I met you. My life forever changed the day you were born and 4 years later I could never image a life I had without you in it. You are my world, and I am a better person because of you.

A rose by any other name...| Flowers
"They are not, the days of wine and roses: Out of a misty dream, our path emerges for a while, then closes, within a dream."

Food Coloring Fun | Self Challenge
I saw a post on murtasma's blog about ink blots in water, and I knew I had to try it.
I did not have his exact set up and I found what I had on hand to be a bit......troublesome to work with. But I gave it a shot anyway. I actually didn't play with this as much as I wanted to that night because I had company over, but here is one of the more decent shots I got. I plan on revisiting this challenge!

Valentine's Day-Flashback | Holidays
Valentine's Day. Some call it the day of love, some sneer at the thought, others find humor in "Single Awareness Day." I just find it to be a wonderful day to find lovely things to photograph! These are from last year, a little flash back of a year past. I am behind on this year's pictures but they will be up soon!

Water Drops | Self Challenge
I really wanted to try the water drops out for myself. I know, cliche right? But I had to have my "own" in my files. I really like the way they look and I saw it as a challenge so I set off to create my own water droplet art! Not too shabby for my first time. What I like about this is it is so simple, (just a bit time consuming) and never fails to get a "aww cool" reaction. I wanted to get the original concept down first, and next I am going to experiment with different lighting, liquids and timing of the drops.
My set up--
My Camera-Nikon D7000
My Lens- 35mm 1.8
My Lighting-Nikon SB-900
Tripod
ML-L3 remote
I had my camera set to manual mode. After rigging a dripping water bag above my point of impact (I used my background stand) I set the focus using a ball point pen tip where the drops would fall. I then set my lens to manual mode so that the focus would stay locked.
I had my camera securely on the tripod and I used my remote to set it off so that I did not touch it.
I had my flash set off to the side facing my backdrop synced with my camera at 1/250th of a second and at 1/16 power. (I believe, need to check). Aperture was about f/8 or so.
I also did this is a fairy dim room so that the flash would freeze the water drop since my camera speed wasn't the fastest because of the flash. (It was off camera, but I do not have triggers, I use my camera as the commander).
Then just patience!

Twilight Zone | Noctography
I had one crazy week and a half span where I felt like I was in the Twilight Zone. I kept looking up in the sky expecting to see a full moon because some weird stuff just kept happening. Things I never expected to happen but the events just kept coming. Weird things like this happen around a full moon, though during my Twilight Zone span, there was not a full moon in the sky. And when she came...all was clear.
However, this was not the most recent full moon. This is actually what the moon looked like a couple years ago. I suppose I am due to take a better shot now that I am capable.

Entry Art
I thought it would be cool to bring the outside of my house inside, kind of like on Night at the Roxbury, the Inside Outside club. :) I have these hanging in black frame in my entry way. I plan on repainting down there and making it all a gray and yellow color scheme, now I just need to find the time to do it!
